Eastern London, In One Day

Overview
The City of London was the original site of the city itself nearly two thousand years ago, and it remains one of the most layered square miles anywhere in the world – Roman remains, medieval churches and Victorian trading halls sitting beneath the glass towers of one of the world’s great financial centres. This half-day journey winds through its alleyways and courtyards, uncovering stories of plague, fire, and fortune, before your guide brings you inside one of two of the City’s most storied attractions.
4-5 Hours Private Driver-Guide Chauffeured Vehicle One Interior Visit Included
“The City rebuilt itself after the Great Fire and again after the Blitz, and you can feel that resilience everywhere – ancient stone next to glass towers, all within a few streets of each other.”
THE ROUTE
- The Square Mile-winding through the City’s historic alleyways and courtyards, with tales of plague, body-snatching and centuries-old hauntings along the way
- Leadenhall Market – a Victorian marketplace known to Harry Potter fans as a filming location, and once home to London’s poultry trade
- The Bank of England – guardian of a substantial share of the world’s gold reserves, in the heart of the financial district
- Mansion House – official residence of the Lord Mayor of London, and the starting point for the City’s centuries-old traditions of civic independence
- St Paul’s Cathedral – narrowly saved during the WWII bombing, and the setting for the wedding of Charles and Diana, Winston Churchill’s state funeral, and a memorable scene in Disney’s Mary Poppins
From here, your day continues inside one of the following two attractions, included in your booking price.
