A Day in the South Cotswolds

Overview
While most first-time visitors head straight for the North Cotswolds, the South holds a quieter, more textured version of the same story-deep valleys, wildflower meadows, and market towns with royal and Roman roots that see far fewer coach parties. This full-day journey takes in the region’s finest villages and houses at an easy pace, with a private driver- guide who knows every lane.
Approx. 8 Hours Private Driver-Guide Luxury Vehicle South Cotswolds One Price, Any Group Size
“The South Cotswolds rarely gets the attention it deserves. It’s where our guests discover a quieter, more local side of the region – a King’s hometown, a Roman capital, and villages that feel genuinely undiscovered.”
THE ROUTE
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel, a Cotswolds railway station, or another point of your choosing, and returns you there at the end of the day. The order below can be adjusted to suit opening times, weather, or personal interest.
- Bibury-home to Arlington Row, a run of former weavers’ cottages among the most photographed in England
- Cirencester – once a Roman regional capital, later grown wealthy on the wool trade
- Tetbury-the market town where King Charles grew up, known for its antique dealers and the Highgrove shop
- Malmesbury-England’s oldest borough, with a 12th-century abbey and the acclaimed Abbey House
Gardens - Lacock-a National Trust village used as a filming location for the Harry Potter series, with the option to visit Lacock Abbey itself
- Castle Combe-often called England’s prettiest village, tucked into a wooded valley
Your guide will also weave in smaller villages along the way-the lesser-known corners of the South Cotswolds that rarely make it onto a map.
